UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) - The director general of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), José Graziano da Silva, arrived here Wednesday for a two-day working visit to Angola.
Quoted the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP), PANA reported that the FAO official was welcomed at Luanda's '4 de Fevereiro' International Airport by the Angolan Minister of Fisheries, Afonso Pedro Canga.
ANGOP learnt that during his stay, da Silva will meet with government officials and with UN representatives resident in Angola.
The FAO in Angola provides direct technical assistance of experts from the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, regional headquarters in Accra, Ghana, and the sub-regional headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe.
At the request of Angola, there are projects funded by the FAO in priority areas defined by the
government, which usually anticipates broader national programmes with national funding or
other donors.
