The Ethiopia-Algeria Joint Ministerial Commission started its meeting here Sunday with the hosts saying that a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU) were expected to be signed at the end of the talks. Ethiopian and Algerian experts Saturday concluded their third meeting here after finalising a draft cooperation agreement between the ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
During the two-day session, the experts committee discussed political, economic and social issues, according to a statement released by the host government (Ethiopia).
The Ethiopian experts’ delegation, headed by Ambassador Solomon Abebe, Director General for African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Algerian delegation that was led by Mr. Mohammed Ainseur, head of African Affairs, finalised two draft agreements on culture and tourism.
According to the Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Ministry, the experts also concluded MoU on various issues ranging from science and technology, mining and petroleum, youth, women and children affairs, and sports.
In addition, the two sides reached agreement on drafts of MoUs between the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) and the Algerian Press Services (APS) on media content exchange and capacity building.
