Morocco-Security: Authorities dismantle terror-prone Jihadist unit

Rabat, Morocco - Authorities in Morocco on Saturday announced that they have dismantled a Jihadist unit recruiting people in several cities to carry out terror attacks, Morocco’s Home Office said in a statement, released by a local press agency, 'Maghreb arabe presse'.

Operating in the cities of Nador, Tétouan, Hoceima, Taza, Fez and Marrakech, the group, whose leader got “fighting experience within Al-Qaida-related terrorist organisations in Afghanistan”, has been widely recruiting new members and has planned criminal actions such as violent robbery.

It said that the organisation was dismantled by the criminal investigation department in collaboration with the counter-terrorist services.

Member of the unit, which the statement did not name, will be prosecuted after on-going investigations, the release said.
