Brussels, Belgium - Secretary-General of the International Francophone Organisation (OIF) Abdou Diouf has hailed the election of Mrs Catherine Samba-Panza as the interim President of the Central African Republic (CAR). Mrs Samba-Panza’s election opens a new era in the process to get the country out of crisis, Mr Diouf said in a statement received by PANA here Saturday, stressing the need for the parties to go beyond their disagreements that have, for a long time, plunged the CAR people into crisis.
He urged all CAR political stakeholders to engage in an inclusive and serious reconciliation process.
The OIF Secretary-General expressed his gratitude to the international community for its constant efforts to find sustainable solution to CAR's crisis.
In that respect, he hailed the decision by the European Union to send troops to CAR to help restore peace.
