Dakar, Senegal - Gambia's Independent Electoral Commission has started issuing nomination papers to intending candidates to fill ahead of the West African country's local government election slated for 4 April.
A statement from the electoral body indicated that nomination forms can be collected from its head office in Serre Kunda as well as from its regional offices across the country.
The 4 April local government election will complete Gambia's electoral cycle which started with the country's presidential election in November 2011 and the parliamentary polls in 2012.
The local government election is for officials and councillors for the capital, Banjul City Council; the Kanifing Municipal Council covering Serre Kunda Area, and the various councils located in rural Gambia.
