International - African Union Chairman, Benin's president Boni Yayi, on Tuesday began a four-day visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, according to a communiqué from the Benin foreign affairs ministry.
The communiqué made available to PANA said the visit was to consolidate political dialogue between the two countries, strengthen cooperation and present new investment opportunities in Benin to German economic groups.
President Boni would hold talks with several German officials, particularly his counterpart, Mrs Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as members of Parliament and business managers.
The talks would focus on issues of regional and international concerns related especially to the settlement of conflicts, stability and security in Africa.
The economic partnership ties between Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP) states and the European Union and the need for a better involvement of Africa in governance would also feature.
The visit will end on Friday.
