Cultural diversity tour - Ziguinchor, the main city in southern Senegal, will host a cultural diversity tour 15-17 March at which the various rich cultures of the Senegalese people will be on display.
PANA learnt from official sources that the event is being initiated by the Senegalese ministry of Culture.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Papa Massene Sene, said the fact that Casamance (Southern Senegal) was selected to kick-start the event was informed by the rich cultural diversity in that region.
“Casamance has several ethnic groups rich in culture, especially the Diolas, the Socés, the Mandingues and the Fulani,” Sene disclosed, saying that 'culture is an element of social cohesion and with the Casamance region we hope to be able to value the different positive elements of the several cultures in a bid to help restore peace and stability in that region that has been hit by three decades of insurgency.”
