African Refiners Association - The African Refiners Association (ARA) will hold an international conference in Marrakech, Morocco, 24-28 March, the organisation said in a statement received by PANA here Tuesday.
The conference, part of the 2014 ARA-Week, aims to discuss ways to boost investment in the refining and distribution in all the countries from North Africa to sub-Saharan Africa to enable them meet the energy needs in the future.
According to APA president Anthony Ogbuigwe, there is a clear need to promote the economic, cultural and regional perspectives needed to improve fuel distribution in Africa, in a context of unprecedented low and unstable levels of profitability in the refining sector.
The conference, which will bring together experts in refining, trading, distribution and financing from around the world, will also discuss how to build an enabling environment for investment in the fuel distribution infrastructure as well as the growth of the electricity sector driven by a growing number of gas fields across Africa .
Established 23 March 2006 in South Africa, ARA comprises members of the refining industry in Africa, product importers, storage companies, traders and government regulators.
