Unidentified epidemic wreaks havoc in Guinea

Health - An unidentified disease, which is accompanied by diarrhea, vomiting and bleeding, has killed nine people since Saturday in Guinea's southern district of Guéckédou, according to the Guinean Press Agency, AGP.


The agency reported Monday that the country's health authorities are striving to find the causes of the strange disease .

It said eight new cases were reported on Monday and treated by the regional hospital and the staff of Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

The community radio of the district, located about 700 kilometres from the capital, Conakry, has been urging residents to quickly visit the local hospital in case of diarrhea and vomiting, accompanied by oral, anal, nasal and follicular bleeding.
