Dakar, Senegal - A Malian national has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labour by a court in Senegal for trafficking in marijuana.
Fily Cissokho, 20, was also ordered to pay a FCFA 1.8 million (US$3,818) fine.
The accused was arrested on 16 March 2011 by the Senegalese gendarmerie in Bakel along the border with Mali.
Cissokho, who was riding in a taxi at the time of his arrest, was found with 15 kg of the drug.
The Malian said he was not the owner of the suitcase containing the drugs, but failed to convince the Court.
