The 10th Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Partnership Platform Meeting (PP) is due to hold 18-22 March in Durban, South Africa, PANA repprted.
Discussions at the meeting will focus on the continent’s Agriculture Science Agenda and other related matters.
In a statement made available to PANA here on Monday, the organisers said the meeting is an annual continental forum which brings together high level stakeholders in African agriculture within and outside the continent.
“The specific objectives of the 10th CAADP PP in Durban are: To share lessons and experiences from the last 10 years of CAADP implementation; To identify priority goals, actions and targets based on lessons learnt and emerging challenges and opportunities; And to suggest concrete policy proposals, decisions, or declarations that Ministers and Heads of State and Governments should commit to for the next decade”, the statement said.
Organised by the African Union Commission and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency, the conference will be attended by AUC Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, AUC Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture Rhoda Peace Tumusiime and Chief Executive Officer, NEPAD Agency, Dr Ibrahim Mayaki.
The outcomes of the CAADP PP will be an input to a Joint Conference of African Ministers of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Rural Development Ministerial discussions scheduled for 28 April to 2 May 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
