Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez arrived in Nigeria Monday for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mr. Rodriguez said the two countries were committed to deepening cooperation in the fields of health services or bio-technological products, sports and cultural exchange.
Speaking after a meeting with his Nigerian counterpart, Aminu Wali, the Cuban Foreign Minister noted that both nations have potential for strengthening bilateral ties.
“We have had an excellent meeting. We made a review of all bilateral issues. We confirmed that there is an excellent level of bilateral relations; political issue, economic issue, cooperation issue and at the same time we confirmed that there is a huge potential for enhancing bilateral relations because of our traditions, because we have our ancestral route of our culture in Nigeria, in Africa,' the Cuban official said.
Mr. Rodriguez extended an invitation to his Nigerian counterpart to visit Cuba, saying this would enhance the bilateral relations between them.
Responding, Ambassador Wali, who gladly accepted the invitation to visit Cuba, said the two countries were committed to pursuing all the agreements vigorously.
“Already you heard from the Cuban Foreign Minister, the readiness and willingness of both countries to pursue those agreements because it is for the best of both Nigeria and Cuba and we are certainly committed to each other to pursue these in the interest of our countries, and for the development of our countries,” he said.
