The Nigerian military said Monday its forces killed eight Boko Haram terrorists who were on a mission to attack a community in North-east Eastern Yobe State.
One soldier was killed while an officer was “seriously wounded” in the clash, according to Defence spokesman Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade.
He also said various grades of ammunition, including rockets and machine guns, were captured.
“The move by a group of terrorists on a mission to penetrate and attack Goniri Community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State has failed as they were ambushed by troops on patrol who were already alerted of the terrorists intention.
'Troops are still in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists’ elements after the encounter which resulted in some casualties on both parties,' Gen. Olukolade said.
