International force in Mali - Rwanda has turned down a request from Mali to join the international force involved in the liberation of the north of the West African country.
This was announced by Mrs Louise Mushikiwabo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday in Kigali after talks with her Malian counterpart, Tiéman Coulibaly, who was in Kigali to appeal to Rwanda to join the international force.
She said for the time being, Rwanda was not ready to send troops to Mali because the country had sent soldiers for peacekeeping missions in several regions of the world, including Sudan.
She said Rwanda would assume the the rotating chairmanship of the UN Security Council on 1 April, and was considering to hold debates on Mali at the Council.
