Nouakchott, Mauritania - Mauritania realised US$10.5 million from oil exploration at the Chinguetti offshore field (70 km off Nouakchott) in January 2014, according to an official report sent to PANA on Sunday.
During the same period, the daily oil production at the Chinguetti, which was commissioned in February 2006 and remains the only well, stood at 3,964 barrels per day or a monthly total of 122,877 barrels.
The daily production represents a decline against the December 2013 figure, which average 6,370 barrels per day.
The decline was due to a 10-day cessation of work, the report explains.
The operators of the Chiguetti field have come together under one pool since July 2007.
