Britain's Simmonds visits Malawi

Blantyre, Malawi - Malawi's President Joyce Banda has expressed gratitude to Britain for what she has described as the “encouragement and support” extended to her administration’s Economic Recovery Plan.

Banda made the remarks when she met Mr. Mark Simmonds, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Minister for Africa, at Kamuzu Palace in the Capital, Lilongwe, on Tuesday.

The President informed Mr. Simmonds that her administration’s reforms are starting to bear fruits and that by the end of the year, Malawians should be able to see significant easing on inflation, interest rates and indeed stabilisation of the currency, the Kwacha.
