National dialogue, reconciliation commission in Mali - The European Union (EU) has lauded the decision by Malian authorities to set up a commission for national dialogue and reconciliation, describing the move as a key step to establishing an all-inclusive process toward the total reconciliation and political re-foundation in the West African country.
In a communiqué published here Monday, hailed called for an immediate appointment of members of the commission and urged the Malian authorities to fully implement the transitional roadmap towards the conduct of free and all-inclusive polls by the end of the year.
The EU reaffirmed its support to the crisis-torn country for the implementation of the roadmap while restating its commitment to ensure the protection of civilians and their basic rights, including the freedom of speech.
