Plaisance, Mauritius - Indian President Shri Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Mauritius on Monday as the chief guest of honour at the country's national independence day to be celebrated on Tuesday, PANA reported.
Mukherjee, who heads a delegation of 60 people, was welcomed at the airport by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr. Navin Ramgoolam, and other government officials.
According to the programme of the visit, the Indian leader is billed to meet his Mauritian counterpart, Kailash Purryag, Monday evening before attending a banquet to be hosted in his honor by the Prime Minister.
On Tuesday, he will visit the Apravasi Ghat, a place where Indian immigrants used to land to enter the island about two centuries ago.
The Indian President and his delegation are due to leave Mauritius on Wednesday.
