Lome, Togo - Five people were killed and 21 others injured in a serious road crash Tuesday on the highway near the Defale Mountains in northern Togo, official sources told PANA.
The sources said the accident was caused by a mechanical flaw.
According to the police, a 15-seater bus carrying 26 passengers, including children, rolled over three times as it was descending the road near the Defale Mountains, an area where many road crashes had occurred in the past.
'The brakes of the bus failed when the driver was on the descent, causing the vehicle to roll over three times,' the police said.
On 23 Feb., 19 people were killed and 53 injured in a road crash involving a tractor-trailer transporting livestock to Lome, the Togolese capital, and a passenger bus near Defale.
