There were disturbing scenes in the North Gauteng High Court on Monday when murder accused Oscar Pistorius retched loudly in the dock as evidence about the horrific wounds on his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp’s body were read out.
The Paralympian is on trial for killing Steenkamp at his upmarket Pretoria home on Valentine's Day last year.
While he admits to killing her, he claims he thought he was hooting at an intruder.
Forensic pathologist Gert Saayman, who was reading his report on Steenkamp's body, described how a bullet entered and exited Steenkamp's head.
Judge Thokozile Masipa instructed Pistorius’ lawyer Barry Roux to attend to his client.
Earlier, Saayman successfully asked that his evidence not be broadcast live for the dignity of Steenkamp's family, or in case vulnerable people or children may hear or see it.
He did not object to filtered or paraphrased reports appearing in the print media.
