Malaysian Prime Minister cancels visit to Mauritius

Port-Louis, Mauritius - Malaysian Prime Minister Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak has cancelled his visit to Mauritius from 11-13 March as Chief Guest of the Government of Mauritius on the occasion of the island’s 46th National Day Celebrations 2014 due on Wednesday.

This follows the disappearance of a Malaysian Airlines plane on Saturday after it left Kuala Lumpur heading for Beijing with 239 passengers on board.

Rescuers have yet to find any trace of the plane 36 hours later.

A communiqué issued by the Government on Sunday said that the Malaysian Prime Minister would be replaced by the Commerce and Industry Minister, Sri Mustapha Mohammad, at the Independence Day celebrations.
