More than 1,250 exhibitors from 20 Africans countries are attending the 15th international agriculture and animal resources fair (FIARA) that opened on Wednesday in the Senegalese capital, Dakar.
FIARA, which this year is placed under the theme 'food security and sovereignty', aims at promoting and encourage the efforts on family exploitations and small producers from the rural world of Senegal, the sub-region and Africa.
It is being organized by the Senegalese national consultation and rural cooperation (CNCR), together with the Network of peasants’ organizations consultation from the West African sub-region (ROPPA) and the African continent (PAFFO).
'We want to tell the Senegalese and African populations that family exploitations can feed each African country if our governments make them priority,' said CNCR chairman, Boubacar Cissé.
FIARA 2014 is due to end on 18 March.
