Rome, Italy - The second international support conference for Libya opened Thursday in Rome, Italy, with participants from 30 countries and several international and regional organisations in attendance, PANA reported from here.
Supporters are expected to rise from the conference with a final declaration of support for Libya's national dialogue and rebuilding.
The conference is also meant to coordinate international support as Libya wades through a difficult democratic transition, three years after the uprising that ended the regime of former dictator Mouammar Kadhafi.
It will discuss arms withdrawal and the integration of the former fighters.
The Italian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mrs Federica Mogherini, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations on political affairs Jeffrey Feltman, and the special representative of the UN secretary general in Libya, Tarek Mitri, were all at the opening session of the conference.
