Brazzaville, Congo - The Congolese mourned on Monday as they commemorated the first anniversary of the explosions from the arm and ammunition dump at Mpila, in Brazzaville. on 4 March last year.
President Denis Sassou N’Guesso was on hand to lay wreaths at the memorial tomb for the victims at a cemetery in the city centre.
The Mpila disaster, on 4 March, 2012, left 300 people dead and some 2,300 others injured. About 15,000 others were rendered homeless.
The ceremony was attended by top-ranking government officials, representatives of the affected families and diplomats.
