Lagos, Nigeria - Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday sacked Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi. The President announced the sack just before the start of the weekly cabinet meeting in the capital city of Abuja.
No reason was given for the sack, but the local media had speculated that the minister would be fired because his sponsor, Senator Bukola Saraki, had defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
The president also swore in 11 new ministers, who were recently cleared by the Senate.
Following is the list of the new ministers and their portfolios:
Musiliu Obanikoro (Minister of State Defence)
Mohammed Wakil (Minister of State Power)
Abduljelili Adesiyan (Minister of Police Affairs)
