President Kenyatta denounces Nigeria killings-Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya - Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has condemned the recent killing of some 59 Nigerian school children by suspected members of the Islamic sect Boko Haram, calling it a ‘dastardly terrorist’ attack.

In a condolence message to his Nigerian counterpart, Goodluck Jonathan, and the people of Nigeria, President Kenyatta said the killing was a “heinous act of cowardice that targeted vulnerable children in their most innocent slumber”.

“It is with utter shock and indignation that I learnt of the horrendous death of 59 innocent children during the dastardly terrorist attack by Boko Haram at the Federal Government College in Buni Yadi,” President Kenyatta wrote in the message.

He recalled that Kenya had faced similar senseless terrorist massacres and assured the government and people of Nigeria that Kenyans stood with them in prayer during these trying and difficult times.

In the most recent deadly attack in Kenya, terrorists linked to the outlawed Somali militia Al-Shabab struck at the upmarket West Gate Mall in Nairobi's Westlands suburbs in September 2013, leaving 72 people dead, among them a few foreign nationals.
