2014 African Women’s Championship (AWC) - Ghana's women football team is through to the second round, qualifying series for the 2014 African Women’s Championship (AWC), after back-to-back wins over Burkina Faso, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said on Sunday.
GFA said the Black Queens reproduced another 3-0 victory against their opponents on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium in the return leg of the first-round qualifier.
The result handed Ghana a 6-0 aggregate victory over both legs.
Ghana will meet Ethiopia in the next round of qualifying for a place in the finals, to be staged by Namibia in October.
Fiaza Ibrahim opened the scoreline after 21 minutes while Agnes Aduako doubled the lead in the 26th minute from a penalty kick.
Aduako put the icing on the cake in the 73rd minute when she found the net again.
The 2014 AWC will also be a qualification tournament for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, with the top three teams qualifying for the finals in Canada.
