The opponents for Ghana and Nigeria, Africa's two representatives in this year's FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Canada, have emerged after Saturday's draw for the 5-24 Aug. tournament in Canada
The draw, which was held in Montreal, Canada, placed Ghana in the same group A as host Canada, with Finland and North Korea completing the group.
The hosts and the Ghanaians will also contest the tournament’s opening match at Toronto’s National Stadium,
For its part, Nigeria is in group C with England, South Korea and Mexico.
Ghana and Nigeria have represented Africa at the two-yearly tournament since the 2010 edition in Germany.
PANA reports that Africa's best performance at the tournament so far was at the 2012 edition in Japan, where Nigeria finished fourth
Meanwhile, the finalists in the 2012 tournament, United States and Germany, have been placed in the same Group B with Brazil and China.
The FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, which is returning to Canada that hosted its inaugural edition in 2002, will be played in four venues - Edmonton, Moncton, Montreal and Toronto.
Canada will also host the senior equivalent, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, in June and July of 2015.
