International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) - The chairman of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Dr Kanayo F. Nwanze, will pay an official visit to Mauritius from 3 to 6 March, official sources told PANA on Thursday in the Mauritian capital.
An official of the ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security said the visit was to strengthen the ties between IFAD and Mauritius and ensure that the Marine and Agriculture Support Programme (MARS) is implemented for peasant farmers and fishermen.
Dr Nwanzwe will visit Rodrigues where he will meet the various commissioners and also five cooperative companies involved in the fishing sector on the island.
The IFAD boss will on 5 March pay a courtesy call on president Rajkeswur Purryag, Prime minister Navin Ramgoolam and other political personalities of the island.
Dr Nwanzwe will address the executives of the ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security on 6 March before travelling to the Seychelles.
IFAD is a UN specialized institution devoted to poverty eradication in rural areas in developing countries.
