French President Francois Hollande goes to CAR Friday

Paris, France - French President Francois Hollande, will visit Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic (CAR), Friday, where he’ll meet a military contingency of his country that is deployed on the field, PANA learnt Thursday from official sources in Paris.

Hollande will also meet CAR’s acting president, Mrs Catherine Samba-Panza, as well as religious authorities in the country.

The French president is currently in Nigeria for the centenary celebrations.

France deployed a total of 1,600 soldiers to support the International Support Mission of CAR under the command of the African Union in a bid to end the violence in the country.

Thousands of people have been killed and several thousand others displaced, mainly Muslims in CAR, since the violence started on 5 December, 2013.
