CAF Champions League first-round, first-leg match - Gor Mahia Head Coach, Bobby Williamson, is confident that his team can make it past an experienced Esperance of Tunisia when the two sides meet in a CAF Champions League first-round, first-leg match here on Saturday, 29 February.
Speaking on the club's official site after a training session, the coach gave credit to the Tunisian giants as worthy opponents but insisted that Gor Mahia is in the competition to win matches and proceed.
'We know they are frequent participants in the champions league and are highly-ranked in the continent, but we are also here on merit and we have been improving with every game,' said Williamson, a Scotsman.
'I am confident we can make it past them by matching them in all departments,' said Williamson, a former Uganda national team coach.
Williamson believes that his players will rise to the occasion and prove a point to their critics since they have been listed on merit.
On their way to the first round, Gor dumped Cameroon's Union Sportif Bitam in the preliminaries.
