Cape Town, South Africa - A Cape Town, South Africa, bakery has sparked a national outcry by launching an array of Oscar Pistorius-themed cookies ahead of the South African athlete's murder trial next week.
The cookies depicted him with the logo of his former sponsor Nike and slogans like “Just do it. He did it” or “Using toilet Please don't shoot!”.
Another said: “And the Oscar goes to jail.”
Hundreds of South Africans have taken to the Social Media to voice their displeasure while the bakery has apologised and withdrawn the cookies.
Meanwhile, North Gauteng High Court Judge Dunstan Mlambo has been hailed for allowing media houses to partially broadcast the trial which begins in Pretoria on Monday.
The South African National Editors' Forum (SANEF) said the judgment would go a long way towards entrenching an open, democratic society envisaged in the Constitution.
It said Judge Mlambo had succeeded in balancing the right of freedom of expression with Pistorius' right to a fair trial.
