Congo to launch US$32 million-forestry project

Forestry project Congo - Congo will next month launch a US$32 million forestry project to strengthen the capacity of the forestry administration in a bid to improve the sustainable management of forests.

The project, which will be executed in partnership with the World Bank over the next five years, will be funded to the tune of US$22 million by the Congolese government and US$10 million by the bank.

The project will also enable the African country to modernise the administration of forests and make the environment more conducive to private sector investment.

It would also further the plan to involve local communities in forest management.
