Tripoli, Libya - The Libyan Ministry of Defence has decided to apply 'strong measures' to strengthen security in the violence-prone region of Kufra located in the country's deep south.
In a statement issued on Monday in Tripoli, the ministry expressed regret at the series of violence that has occurred in the region of Kufra, calling it a rebellion against the authority of the state.
'Any rebellion against the law and security will be fought with determination,' the Ministry of Defence warned.
Two persons were killed and five others injured on Sunday in Kufra, in clashes between armed forces and Toubou armed groups.
The media reported that armed gangs from Chad belonging to the Toubou ethnic group were rampaging in the city with weapons of different categories.
