Luanda, Angola - Angolan Romeu Filemon has been appointed as head coach of the country's senior national football team, known as Palancas Negras, for a two-year contract.
Until his appointment by the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Filemon, 49, was the coach of the Angolan national Under-20 side.
He replaces Gustavo Ferrin, from Uruguay, who got the boot after he failed to qualify Angola for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The new coach will earn 3 million Kwanza, or US$30,000, monthly.
His first test will come on 5 March when he leads his team against Mozambique in a friendly in Maputo.
