Black Stars Deputy Captain Paintsil granted bail - Black Stars defender John Paintsil was on Friday night granted bail following his arrest in Accra by police for assault and causing harm.
The Greater Accra Region Police Public Relations Officer, Freeman Tetteh, said Paintsil was arrested for stabbing his wife, Richlove, on Friday afternoon at their plush residential area in the capital, Accra.
He said Paintsil, Deputy Captain of the Black Stars who plays in Israel, also attacked a neighbour who attempted to rescue his wife.
An Accra-based radio station, Joy FM, said the cause of the misunderstanding between the couple was not clear. Police have described the incident as a domestic quarrel.
The Legon police on Friday night granted the footballer bail and asked him to report on Monday as investigations continue.
Police say they have secured the medical report on Mrs Paintsil which indicated that she was badly assaulted, but she has denied the incident.
