Economy: French investments in Congo

French investments in Congo last year estimated at 10.28 billion CFA.


The French ambassador in Congo, Jean-François Valette, on Friday said that investments made by his country in Congo in 2012 are estimated at 10.28 billion CFAF.

Speaking at a press conference he said the development of cooperation between the two countries was in several areas such as roads, urbanization, sanitation and health.

Mr Valette said that two-thirds of the investments in Congo were carried out by French companies with the creation of 20,000 jobs in sectors such as industry, services and banking.

French cooperation is carried through the French development agency (AFD).

Mr Valette described the investments in Congo 'as very positive and satisfactory'.
