Surveillance cameras: FG to install 10,000 traffic surveillance cameras

Traffic surveillance cameras - About 10, 000 traffic surveillance cameras and 14, 000 memory sensors will be installed nationwide by the federal government through public private partnership.


The Chairman and Chief Executive of Risk and Accident Prevention Society of Nigeria (RAPSON), Engineer Ben Koko Odohore said this in Abuja during the inauguration of the implementation committee of the scheme.

He said RAPSON is in partnership with the federal government to provide national traffic cameras surveillance and safety certification scheme.

Through the partnership, the government will provide the right of way for the installation of all the equipment, its protection and ensuring compliance nationwide.

Odohore said RAPSON will provide comprehensive safety certification for all Nigerians as well as the deployment of safety cameras on the highways, freeways, ante-routes, arterials roads to identify accident spots.

The implementation committee was inaugurated by the Special Adviser to the president on ethics and values, Mrs Sarah Jibril.
