EU condemns killing of over 100 persons in northern Nigeria

Brussels, Belgium - The European Union (EU) has condemned, in very strong terms, the massacre perpetrated on 15 February in the village of Izghe, located in the north eastern Borno State of Nigeria.

In a statement released here Wednesday, the EU Commissioner for Foreign Policy, Catherine Ashton, described the attack as 'despicable”, targeting innocent civilians and called on the Nigerian authorities to unmask those responsible for the massacre and make them face the full weight of justice.

More than 100 people were reported killed in the massacre which the Islamist militants, Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility.
