Africa-South America Summit (ASA) - Burundi's President Pierre Nkurunziza was expected to leave Bujumbura on Thursday for Equatorial Guinea’s capital, Malabo, where he will attend the 3rd session of the Africa-South America Summit (ASA), official sources told PANA here.
The meeting aims at reinforcing South-South cooperation in the areas of peace, security, education, health, good governance, environmental protection, commerce, industry, culture, tourism, agriculture, rural development and job creation.
The previous summits were held in Nigeria in November 2006 and in Venezuela in September 2009.
