Brussels, Belgium - The Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier Reynders, Monday indicated that Belgium will participate in the training of Malian soldiers, under a programme designed by the European Training and Counselling Mission (EUTM).
Speaking at the end of a meeting of the Belgian council of ministers, devoted solely to the training programme, Reynders explained that Belgium would deploy, to the EUTM, two helicopters for medical operations from the detachment attached to the 'Serval' operation, launched by the French army against armed islamist groups in Northern Mali.
He indicated that Belgium would also send soldiers to be part of the guards for EUTM programme, due to begin in Koulikouro in the first week of April.
Reynders had earlier held talks with the Malian Prime Minister, Diango Sissoko, currently visiting Belgium.
