International - The National Defence minister, Cândido Van-Dúnem, said Monday in Luanda that Angola and Africa in general can count on the experience of Brazil in the domains of defence, democratic development and fight against poverty.
The minister was speaking at the opening of official talks between delegations of the Defence Ministry from both countries.
He said Brazil as a modern State, with enormous political, economic and cultural perspectives, has been transmitting its positive experience Angola and Africa could learn from.
According to Cândido Van-dunem Brazil and its people have been making a valuable contribution to the consolidation of democracy in Africa, where many countries are still faced with problems of political and military instability, which are factors hindering the socio-economic development.
The official expressed the wish that the relations between Angola and Brazil grow in a more and more profound and fraternal way and contributes to the improvement of the living of the respective peoples.
He also said he hopes the visit of his Brazilian counterpart, Celson Amorin, to Angola paves the way for stronger relations and helps relaunch bilateral cooperation in the fields of defence and armed forces.
During the talks, the delegations headed by their respective chiefs, minister Cândido Van-Dúnem and his colleague Celso Amorim, assessed the stated of bilateral cooperation, with stress to the creation of the Angolan military industry and training of staff.
Angola and Brazil enjoy relations of friendship and cooperation in various domains since 1975, when the latter recognised the former as an independent and sovereign State.
