CAF Confederation Cup: Supersport United, others advance to first round

Supersport United of South Africa, Club Olympique De Bamako of Mali and US Douala are among the teams that have qualified for the first round of the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup, after the second leg preliminary matches played on Friday and Saturday.

Other teams that have advanced are CS Constantinois of Algeria, Gamtel FC of Gambia, Ebusua Dwarfs of Ghana and How Mine of Zimbabwe.

Below is how they qualified:

Club Olympique De Bamako of Mali: Qualified 2-1 on aggregate after drawing 1-1 with Ahly Tripoli of Libya.

CS Constantinois of Algeria: 4-3 on aggregate after winning the return leg 4-1 against ASN Nigelec of Niger.

Gamtel FC of Gambia: 2-0 on aggregate after beating RSLAF FC of Sierra Leone in the second leg.

US Douala of Cameroon: 4-2 on aggregate despite losing the return leg 2-1 to ASLAD de Moundou of Chad.

Ebusua Dwarfs of Ghana: 1-0 on aggregate after a goalless draw against ASC Jaraaf of Senegal in the return leg.

How Mine of Zimbabwe: 6-1 on aggregate after beating Chuoni Football Team of Zanzibar 2-1 in the second leg.

Supersport United of South Africa: 3-0 on aggregate after beating Gaborone United of Botswana 1-0 in the return leg.

Overall, 11 aggregate winners will join the 11 teams that have drawn a bye into the first round.

The teams are Etoile du Sahel and CA Bizertin of Tunisia; Ismaily and Wadi Delga of Egypt; Bayelsa United and Warri Wolves of Nigeria; Al Ahly Shendy of Sudan; Mas Fez of Morocco; Djoliba of Mali, Zesco United of Zambia and ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast

CS Sfaxien of Tunisia is the defending champion of the tournament.

The winner of the 2014 edition of the CAF Confederation Cup will win the right to play in the 2015 CAF Super Cup
