CAF Champions League: Kaizer Chiefs, others reach first round

2014 CAF Champions League - South African club Kaizer Chiefs has advanced to the first round of the 2014 CAF Champions League on a 4-1 goals aggregate, after drawing 1-1 with Black Africa of Namibia in the second leg preliminary on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs won the first leg at home 3-0 last weekend.

Ten other teams progressed to the first round on Saturday.

They are:

Raja Casablanca of Morocco: 8-1 on aggregate after winning 2nd leg 2-1 over Diamond Stars of Sierra Leone

Real Bamako of Mali: Away goal rule after a 3-3 deadlock (on aggregate) with Royal Armed Forces of Morocco

Flambeua de l'Est of Burundi:  2-1 on aggregate after drawing 1-1 with Diables Noirs of Congo in the return leg

ASFA Yennega of Burkina Faso: 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate deadlock with Diambars of Senegal

AS Vita of DR Congo: 4-3 on aggregate even though Kano Pillars of Nigeria won 2-1 in the return leg

AC Leopards of Congo: Away goal rule after a 2-2 deadlock with Rayon Sport of Rwanda

Cote d'Or of Seychelles: 7-2 on aggregate after defeating Kabuscorp of Angola 2-1 in the return leg

Komorozine of Comoros Islands: 12-2 on aggregate after beating Young Africans of Tanzania 5-2 in the return leg

Kampala City Council of Uganda: 3-2 on aggregate after beating Al Merreikh of Sudan 2-1 in the second leg

Nkana FC of Zambia: 5-4 on aggregate after beating Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland 5-2 in the second leg

More qualifiers will emerge Sunday to join the six clubs that drew a bye into the first round: CS Sfaxien and Esperance of Tunisia; Al Ahly of Egypt, Al Hilal of Sudan, TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Coton Sport of Cameroon

Two teams qualified for the first round after their preliminary opponents withdrew.

They are Sewe Sport of Cote d'Ivoire and and ES Setif of Algeria

Al Ahly is the competition's defending champion, having beaten Orlando Pirates of South Africa to lift its 8th CAF Champions League trophy last year.

The winner of the 2014 CAF Champions League will qualify for the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup, and win the ticket to play in the 2015 CAF Super Cup.
