Nigeria, Benin play goalless in 2013 AYC prep match - Though the euphoria of winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations has yet to die down, Nigeria has already launched its preparations for another continental tournament, the CAF African Youth Championship.
On Saturday, Nigeria played goalless with visiting Benin in a warm-up game for the 2013 edition of the Under-20 tournament, due to be held in Algeria 16-30 March.
In the match, played in the capital city of Abuja, Nigeria's Flying Eagles - as the country's Under-20 national team is known - played with only 10 players after 63 minutes, following the expulsion of defender Ikechukwu Okorie.
While Nigeria is with Ghana, Mali and Gabon in group B of next month's tournament, Benin is in the same group A with host Algeria, Democratic Republic of Congo and Egypt.
The semi-finalists at the 2013 African Youth Championship will represent Africa at the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, to be held in Turkey in June.
Nigeria is the defending champion of the tournament, having won its sixth title at the last edition in South Africa in 2011
