Port-Louis, Mauritius - The Mauritian aviation company, Air Mauritius, Thursday posted a profit of 5.2 million euros for the period April to December, 2013, as compared to losses amounting to 3.1 million euros for the corresponding period in 2012, PANA reported here, quoting a communique from the company.
According to the communiqué, Air Mauritius said the positive result followed a reform plan adopted by the company two years back.
'This new approach adopted by the company on its network is giving the expected results from destinations with big potentials, mainly in Asia,' the communiqué said.
It added that the reorganisation of the network, particularly around the regional hubs, and the strengthening of Air Mauritius’ partnerships with other airlines have helped to consolidate the company’s position on several markets, while offering better choices and flexibility to the passengers.
The communiqué indicated that the number of seats offered by Air Mauritius rose by 14,703 during the last quarter of 2013 for a total of 509,941 seats.
The airline transported a total of 373,066 passengers in the last quarter of 2013 or 4% more than it did during the same period in 2012.
