Justice: Suspected Kadhafi mercenaries get court judgment 24 Feb

Tripoli, Libya - Tripoli's Court of Appeal has postponed, till 24 February, judgment on the 24 suspected mercenaries who fought on the side of the late Mouammar Kadhafi during Libya's uprising.

The defendants, two Russians, 19 Ukrainians and three Belarussians, had appealed against the judgment of a military court -- one year for one of the two Russians, the coordinator of the group, getting a life jail term while others were each sentenced to 10 years after being convicted of signing agreements with Kadhafi to maintain missile launchers' platforms during the rebellion of 17 February, 2011.

Judicial sources said Tuesday that Monday's court session, at which the defendants did not appear, lasted only a few minutes.

The defence lawyers, diplomats from embassies of the defendants' home countries and representatives of civil society organizations, were, however, in court.
