Kenya: Confident Tusker jet out to Seychelles for Champs League tie

Kenya Premier League Champions, Tusker FC, exuded confidence here Wednesday ahead of their departure Thursday to Seychelles for their CAF Champions League match against hosts St Michael on Saturday.

Coach Robert Matano said the team was raring to go and that the bulk of the players were in good shape ahead of the tie.

Speaking at the club's Ruaraka base in Nairobi, Coach Matano said they were all set for the tie, adding that morale was boosted by recent victories against Tanzanian bigwigs Yanga and Simba in recent international friendlies in Dar es Salaam.

'The brewers also played build up matches in Zanzibar. The fact that we performed well in our friendlies in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar means the team is in good shape', he said while unveiling the team.

Responding to questions from the press, the veteran coach who has handled many Tusker Kenyan Premier League teams, said, 'We have 28 players in the team and all of them play well', brushing aside fears that the absence of two players, knocked out of the match by injuries, could have a negative effect on the team.

Matano said he was satisfied with the team's preparations for the match. In addition to the tour of Tanzania, the brewers played a high profile friendly against  fellow KPL side AFC Leopards, winning 2-1.

Last year, Tusker did not reach the first first round of the Champions League after losing 1-0 to APR of Rwanda in the preliminary round.
