Jacob Zuma visits Congo Tuesday

Cape Town, South Africa - South Africa's President Jacob Zuma will undertake a working visit to Brazzaville on Tuesday, at the invitation of Congolese President Dennis Sassou-N'guesso,

President Zuma, who will be accompanied by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, will attend the celebrations marking the 25th Anniversary of the Signature of the Brazzaville Accord on Peace in Southern Africa.

The occasion marks the end of the Brazzaville negotiations, which ended the Angolan civil war with the signing of the Brazzaville Protocol on 22 Dec. 1988, and prepared the ground for the independence of Namibia and ultimately South Africa.

South Africa enjoys cordial bilateral relations with the Republic of Congo.
