Tunis, Tunisia - A suspected terrorist was killed and three others arrested during a security operation carried out overnight Sunday near the Tunisian capital, Tunis, Interior Ministry spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui said.
After receiving information on the presence of weapons in a house located in the village of Borj Louzir, about 10 kilometres east of the capital, the anti-terrorist brigade stormed the house shortly before midnight.
In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the suspected terrorist was killed and three others arrested.
Those arrested included Ahmed Melki, aka the 'Somali', described as a 'dangerous terrorist' who was involved in several cases of murder, including that of opposition MP Mohamed Brahmi killed on 25 July at his home, located in the same area of Ariana where the operation took place.
Three security officers were injured in the gunfight, Mr. Aroui said, without giving further details on their condition.
The operation took place less than a week after seven terrorists were killed in a shootout in Roued, northern suburb of Tunis.
